Yellow Emperor (Huangdi/黄帝) asked Qi Bo(岐伯): “I heard that people in ancient times could be over a hundred years old, and their movements did not show signs of aging, and they still maintained vitality. However, people today, as soon as they reach half a hundred years old, their movements become weak. This is due to the different times. Is it caused by this, or is it caused by people today losing the way to maintain their health? Qi Bo(岐伯) replied: People in ancient times, those who knew how to maintain health, could imitate the laws of natural changes of yin and yang in the heaven and earth, adapt to them, and harmonize the methods of maintaining health to achieve the correct standard. They have a moderate diet, regular work and rest, and do not indulge in promiscuity or unbridled work, so they can be physically and mentally strong, coordinated and live to their natural age (a person naturally grows up while keeping all the organs of the body in a healthy state). Lifespan), people live to be a hundred years old before passing away; this is not the case with people nowadays. They drink wine as water, indulge in excessive sexual activities, and make abnormal life a habit. They have sex when drunk and indulge in sensuality and other behaviors, which will lead to Exhaustion of essence and dissipation of vital energy. , unable to be satisfied (unrestrained indulgence), unable to control one's own will, only seeking subjective emotional momentary happiness, violating the objective joy of life, and having no rules in daily life, so he will age in half a hundred years.”
